This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones drkaratzias.com uses, and how you can manage your choices. It supplements our Privacy Policy — please read both. The controller is DR. A. KARATZIAS DLC (see the Privacy Policy for full details).
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies (such as your browser’s local storage) work the same way. They help a site function, keep it secure, remember your preferences, and — with your consent — understand how the site is used.
We keep cookies to a minimum. We use strictly necessary technologies to make the site work, and — only if you consent — a functional cookie/embed for the location map (OpenStreetMap) and analytics: Google Analytics 4 cookies and Umami, our own analytics, which sets no cookies. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and there is no Meta/Facebook Pixel on this site.
Separately from cookies: Google Analytics’ measurement tag itself loads for every visitor, not only after consent. No cookie is set and no visitor is identified until you consent — until then it sends only anonymous, cookie-free measurement signals with no identifier attached: page views and basic interaction signals such as a tap on the phone number or booking link, or confirmation that an enquiry was sent. No name, email address, phone number, message text or other form content is ever included. This is Google’s standard privacy-preserving default (Consent Mode) and is explained further in our Privacy Policy, section 6.
Umami, the tool we run ourselves for visit statistics, heatmaps and session recordings, works differently: it does not load at all unless you accept Analytics, and it sets no cookies. Once you accept, it counts the pages you visit and, for a sample of visits, records how our pages are used — scrolling, clicks and taps — so we can see where the site is hard to use. All page text and anything you type are masked, and the enquiry form is never recorded. Umami runs on our web agency’s own server in the European Union; no other company receives this data. Recordings are deleted after 30 days, heatmap data after 90 days and visit statistics after 14 months.
Our online booking opens an external platform (Zenbooker) in a new tab — it is not embedded, so it sets no cookies on our pages. Any cookies there are governed by Zenbooker’s own policy.
When you start filling in one of our forms, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person and not a bot. It works as a security measure, independently of your cookie choices, and sets no cookie on drkaratzias.com. See section 7 of our Privacy Policy.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) are off by default and are set only after you click "Accept" or enable Analytics in the consent banner. Before that, no cookie is set and you are not identified, and Umami does not load at all; see the anonymous, cookie-free Google Analytics signals explained in section 2.
Required for the site to work and stay secure (for example, remembering your consent choices). These are always on and need no consent.
Enable optional features — here, the embedded location map (OpenStreetMap). Loaded only with your consent.
Help us understand how the site is used (Google Analytics 4, with IP anonymisation, and our own Umami statistics, heatmaps and session recordings) so we can improve it. The Google Analytics measurement tag loads for every visitor in a cookie-free state (see section 2); its cookies load only with your consent. Umami loads only with your consent and sets no cookies.
When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept all, Reject all, or Manage preferences by category. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer. Withdrawing Analytics consent clears the analytics cookies already set on this site (Google Analytics), stops Umami and reloads the page; from then on you are treated as a visitor who has not consented — no cookie is set and only anonymous, cookie-free measurement signals are sent.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings:
Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
We may update this policy from time to time; the current version is always published here with its "Last updated" date. For any questions about cookies, email [email protected]. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of how we handle personal data.
