THE PROMISE
A butt lift is a procedure that reshapes the buttocks by reducing excess skin, and depending on the patient’s individual needs either reducing or increasing the amount of fat in the buttock, resulting in smoother skin and firmer, rounder, better-proportioned contours of the buttocks. In some patients a better-shaped buttock contour can be achieved from fat injection alone (Brazilian butt lift or BBL).
You should be mindful that, even following good healing and good surgical results, visible and prominent scarring can develop. Dr. Karatzias will limit scar length and try to position each scar in the least conspicuous position. Nonetheless, scars may be more noticeable than you anticipated. It is important that you have realistic expectations of the surgery and that you discuss potential outcomes with Dr. Karatzias.

Usually general anesthesia is required for buttock lift surgery. Following your surgery, dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions. You may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a supportive garment to minimise swelling and to support your operation site as it heals. A small, thin tube may also be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect. You will need to take at least a few days off work to rest and avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, swimming and strenuous sports until advised by Dr. Karatzias.

To reduce risks and maintain as much of the results for as long as possible we recommend that you refrain from smoking for a minimum of six weeks prior to the surgery and for the duration of your recovery period. Buttock augmentation by injecting Aquafilling gel is one of the fastest growing non-surgical procedures performed in the last year. Plastic surgeons usually use silicone implants or fat transfers for these kind of demands, but implants come with a high percentage of complications and pain and fat is not always present in a sufficient quantity. An innovation changed the non-surgical procedures for buttock and breast augmentation.
Many women all over the world already chose a simple and quick way to have a “Brazilian butt”. Aquafilling is a hydrophilic gel composed of 98% water and 2% polyamid. The procedure is very simple and performed under local anesthesia. The gel is injected in a very easy way using a special technique in the area we want to add volume to or maybe to correct (if we have any asymmetry).
The patient may return home immediately. There are no scars (because the injection is made with a special needle). The result is visible right after the intervention and lasts up to 7 years. Aquafilling is also ideal for correcting breast asymmetry and for breast augmentation. The gel gives a totally natural look if breasts are to be enlarged for one or two sizes. There is no possibility of gel migration, fragmentation or formation of hard fiber capsules, there is no inflammation infiltration.

Should I choose the surgical BBL or non-surgical Aquafilling?
It depends on your goals, your anatomy and how much of your own fat is available. A BBL uses your own fat under general anaesthesia, while Aquafilling is an injectable gel done under local anaesthesia with no surgery and no scars. The right choice is decided together with Dr. Karatzias at your consultation.
Will the result look natural?
That is the aim. The buttocks are reshaped to sit in better proportion with your hips and waist rather than looking obviously "done", whether volume is added with your own fat or with gel. The amount is tailored to your frame so the change reads as a more balanced version of your own shape.
Will I have visible scars?
With Aquafilling there are no scars, as it is injected through a special needle. With a surgical BBL some scarring can develop; Dr. Karatzias keeps incisions short and places them in the least conspicuous positions, though scars can occasionally be more noticeable than expected, which is discussed honestly beforehand.
How much downtime should I plan for?
After a surgical BBL you should take at least a few days off work to rest, avoiding heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, swimming and intense sports until Dr. Karatzias advises otherwise; a support garment is usually worn. After Aquafilling most people return home the same day and resume normal activity quickly.
How long do the results last?
Aquafilling results are visible straight away and typically last up to around 7 years. A fat-based BBL is intended to be long-lasting, but a stable weight matters — significant weight gain or loss, or pregnancy, can change the result, so it is best to be at a steady weight before treatment.
Can buttocks augmentation be combined with other procedures, and how much does it cost?
Yes — it is often combined with body-contouring work such as liposuction or a thigh lift, which is planned at your consultation.
