THE PROMISE

Your own fat. A natural increase. No implants.

What is Breast Augmentation with Fat

Fat transfer breast augmentation — also called lipofilling — enhances the size and shape of the breasts using your own fat instead of an implant. It suits women who want a modest, natural increase rather than a dramatic change, and who would prefer to avoid foreign materials altogether.

For those seeking a modest size increase without foreign materials, we use fat transfer: unwanted fat is taken from other areas of the body by gentle liposuction, purified, and carefully injected into the breasts in fine layers, for a look and feel that is entirely natural. As a welcome bonus, the donor area — often the abdomen, flanks or thighs — is slimmed and contoured at the same time.

The Procedure

The operation has two parts in a single session. First, gentle liposuction harvests fat from a donor area such as the abdomen, flanks or inner thighs. The fat is then purified and injected into the breasts in many fine layers, so it settles evenly and can establish a healthy blood supply.

Because the body reabsorbs a portion of the transferred fat over the first few months, the result settles gradually, and a second session is sometimes used to build further volume. The realistic increase, the donor sites and the type of anaesthesia are confirmed with Dr. Karatzias at your consultation.

How the Patient Recovers

A compression garment is worn over the liposuction donor area for several weeks to support healing and reduce swelling. Most women return to office work within about a week, with strenuous activity and exercise resumed gradually over four to six weeks. Mild bruising and swelling are normal early on; the breasts soften and the final volume becomes clear over the following months as the surviving fat stabilises.

Are You the Right Candidate?

Good candidates are women who want a natural, modest enhancement without implants, who have enough fat in a donor area to harvest, are at a stable weight and in good general health. For a larger increase, implants may achieve more — something we can discuss and compare at your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my breasts look and feel natural?

That is the main appeal of this approach. Because the increase comes from your own soft tissue rather than an implant, the result tends to look and feel like a natural part of you, with a softer feel than an implant. The trade-off is that the change is modest by design, not dramatic.

Where will the scars be?

There is no breast incision — the fat is injected through tiny entry points that leave only pinhole marks. The liposuction at the donor area (often the abdomen, flanks or inner thighs) is also done through very small openings that usually fade to be barely noticeable over time.

Does it hurt, and what is the bruising and swelling like?

Most discomfort comes from the liposuction donor area rather than the breasts, and is usually described as soreness or tightness managed with simple pain relief. Mild bruising and swelling are normal early on and settle over the first weeks, helped by the compression garment worn over the donor area.

How much time off work will I need?

Most women return to office work within about a week. Strenuous activity and exercise are resumed gradually over four to six weeks, and the compression garment is worn over the donor area for several weeks while you heal.

Might I need a second session?

Possibly. The body reabsorbs a portion of the transferred fat over the first few months, so the result settles gradually — and some women choose a second session later to build further volume. Whether that is likely in your case is discussed honestly with Dr. Karatzias.

Can it be combined with another procedure?

Often, yes. Because fat is harvested by liposuction, body contouring of the donor area happens as part of the same operation, and it can sometimes be combined with a breast lift or other procedures. What is suitable and safe for you in a single session is decided at your consultation. The procedure is carried out under general anaesthesia.
