Will my breasts still look natural after a lift?
That is the aim. A mastopexy raises the breasts and repositions the nipple to a higher, firmer position so they look more youthful while staying in proportion with your body. The plan is tailored to your own shape and what you want to achieve, which is discussed in depth at your consultation.
Where is the scar, and will it be visible?
A breast lift removes excess skin, so some scarring is unavoidable and its pattern depends on how much lift is needed. Incisions are placed so they are as discreet as possible — typically around the areola and below it — and scars usually fade and soften over the months that follow. The likely pattern for your case is explained beforehand.
How much time should I take off, and what is recovery like?
Plan for some downtime in the first weeks, with swelling and tenderness that settle gradually. We use advanced techniques and disposables to support your results and shorten recovery, and you will be given clear after-care guidance. We also ask that you avoid smoking for at least six weeks before surgery and throughout recovery, as this lowers risks and helps protect the result.
How long do the results last?
A lift gives lasting results, though breasts continue to change naturally with age and gravity over time. To maintain your result for as long as possible, it is best to keep a stable weight — and for this procedure, if you become pregnant or lose a significant amount of weight afterwards, the breasts can change again. Many women choose to complete their family first.
Can a breast uplift be combined with another procedure, and what anaesthetic is used?
Yes. Where volume has also been lost it can be combined with an implant (an augmentation mastopexy), and it is often considered alongside breast augmentation, breast reduction or liposuction. A lift of this kind is carried out under general anaesthesia. The right combination for you is decided at your consultation.
