    Double chin correction

    What is Double chin correction

While many of us would like to see a streamlined profile when we look in the mirror, some of us have excess fat that creates a double chin, also called submental fullness. A double chin can result from a variety of causes, including hereditary factors, weight, anatomy and airway positioning. With this procedure we remove the accumulated fat from the chin.

Facial liposuction has become a common cosmetic procedure, either on its own or in conjunction with facelift or other facial procedures. It consists of the removal of unwanted fatty tissue with a cannula and vacuum device, promoting and improving the jawline and the overall shape of the face. For this procedure, a laser lipolysis approach can also be followed.

    Are they any side effects?

Possible side effects include swelling, soreness, bruising and a temporary burning sensation. Risks include infection, asymmetry of the face, pigmentation changes (hyper or hypo) and decreased sensibility in some areas of the face.

    How the patient recovers

Full recovery time is between 20 to 28 days, during which the patient will be asked to wear a compression garment. The procedure achieves good results in patients with excess fat along the jowl and in the neck, good skin elasticity and minimal platysmal banding.

We use the most advanced surgical technology, disposables and techniques when performing treatments and procedures to maximize your results and diminish the length of your recovery period. To reduce risks and maintain as much of the results for as long as possible we recommend that you refrain from smoking for a minimum of six weeks prior to the surgery and for the duration of your recovery period. Please also note that for this particular procedure if you become pregnant or lose a significant amount of weight, you should wait until after your body has reached a stable equilibrium.
