THE PROMISE
Botox® is the registered trade name for Botulinum Type A and was the first FDA approved botulinum agent to be used for wrinkle reduction. There are now several excellent additional wrinkle reducing injectables in use, including Dysport and Xeomin. These products work by blocking communication between the nerves and the muscles in the targeted area, temporarily paralyzing the active wrinkles caused by these facial muscles. This treatment results in a more youthful and refreshed appearance and may prevent the formation of future wrinkles.
Dr Karatzias uses special equipment like Nuevibe and appropriate needles for painless treatments. To create a nearly painless experience, the Nuevibe™ produces a light vibration on the T-shaped part. Dr. Karatzias presses the Nuevibe™ near the injection site during all of his cosmetic injections. When the vibration and injection sensations occur during the same time, the feeling of vibration reaches the brain first, preventing the feeling of the injection from being read by the brain, making the treatment feel more comfortable and less noticeable. With Nuevibe™, there is no longer need to feel anxiety or a fear of needles.

Does it hurt?
Most people find it very tolerable. The injections use fine needles, and Dr. Karatzias uses a device called the Nuevibe™ that creates a light vibration near the injection site — because the vibration reaches the brain first, it masks much of the sensation of the needle, so the treatment feels more comfortable and less noticeable. There is usually no need to feel anxiety or a fear of needles.
Is there any downtime?
Typically very little — this is a non-surgical, walk-in treatment and most people return to their usual day straight away. Some minor redness or a small bump at the injection points can occur and usually settles within a short time. As a general precaution it is sensible to avoid rubbing the area and heavy exercise on the same day; your specific aftercare is explained at your appointment.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
The smoothing effect is not instant — it usually develops gradually over several days as the treated muscles relax. The result is temporary rather than permanent, so the effect wears off over time and the treatment is repeated to maintain it. Dr. Karatzias will explain the expected timing and a maintenance plan for your goals at your consultation.
Will I still look natural, or will my face look frozen?
The aim is a softer, refreshed version of your own expression, not a frozen or "done" look. By relaxing only the targeted muscles that create active wrinkles, the treatment eases those lines while leaving your natural movement as intact as possible. The amount used is tailored to you and discussed beforehand.
How many sessions will I need?
A single visit treats the chosen areas, and because the effect is temporary the treatment is simply repeated when results begin to fade to keep them up. How often that is varies from person to person, and a suitable schedule is agreed with Dr. Karatzias at your consultation.
Are there any side effects?
Botulinum toxin is widely used and generally well tolerated. Temporary, minor effects such as slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection points can occur and usually settle on their own.
