LIFT + VOLUME
Lift and volume in one operation — for breasts that have both sagged and lost fullness, we raise them to a higher position while restoring volume with an implant or your own fat, for a complete change a lift or implant alone cannot achieve.
THE PROMISE
Augmentation mastopexy combines two procedures in one: a breast lift (mastopexy) to raise sagging breasts, and an augmentation to restore lost volume — with an implant or your own fat. It is designed for women who have both concerns at once, where a lift alone would leave them flat on top and an implant alone would sit low on a loose breast.
If you have lost volume and experienced sagging, a simple lift or a simple implant isn't enough. This dual procedure restores the breast's higher position (the lift) while simultaneously adding fullness (the augmentation), in a single operation and a single recovery — for a complete, balanced transformation.

Before and after
The lift removes excess, stretched skin and repositions the nipple and areola to a higher, more youthful level, reshaping the breast tissue into a firmer cone. In the same operation, fullness is restored — most often with a silicone implant placed behind the breast or muscle, or, for a more modest and natural result, with fat transferred from another part of your body.
Because it does the work of two operations together, augmentation mastopexy is carefully planned. The lift technique (and therefore the scar pattern), the choice of implant or fat, and the type of anaesthesia are confirmed with Dr. Karatzias at your consultation.

HOW LONG IT LASTS
Permanent
A supportive surgical bra is worn for several weeks to hold the new shape and reduce swelling. Most women return to office work within one to two weeks, with strenuous activity and exercise resumed gradually over four to six weeks. Swelling settles over the following weeks, and the scars — which are more extensive than for an implant alone — fade and soften over the following months.
Good candidates are women whose breasts have both dropped and lost volume — often after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss — who are at a stable weight, in good general health, and comfortable with the trade-off of a lift's scars in exchange for a lifted, fuller shape. At your consultation we determine whether a combined procedure, or a staged approach, is safest for you.

BEFORE & AFTER CASES
Results vary from person to person.
Where will the scars be, and how visible are they?
A combined lift and augmentation leaves more scarring than an implant alone — usually around the edge of the areola, often with a vertical line running down to the breast crease, and sometimes along the crease itself. They are placed where they sit most discreetly and typically fade and soften over the months that follow. Your exact pattern is shown to you beforehand at your consultation.
Does it hurt, and what are the bruising and swelling like?
Most women describe tightness and soreness rather than sharp pain in the first days, eased with simple prescribed pain relief. Some bruising and swelling is normal early on and settles over the following weeks, while a supportive surgical bra worn for several weeks holds the new shape and helps the swelling go down.
How much time off work will I need?
Most women return to office or desk work within one to two weeks. Strenuous activity, lifting and exercise are reintroduced gradually over about four to six weeks rather than all at once, so the lifted shape is protected while it heals.
How long do the results last?
The lift and added volume are long-lasting, though no breast is frozen in time — gravity, ageing, weight changes and future pregnancies can gradually alter the shape over the years. Staying at a stable weight and wearing good support helps the result hold for as long as possible.
Could I need a second operation later?
Most women are happy with a single operation. Because this combines two procedures, a minor revision is occasionally needed — for example a small scar refinement, or implant-related adjustment further down the line — which is a recognised possibility your surgeon will discuss honestly with you in advance.
What anaesthetic is used, and can it be combined with another procedure?
Augmentation mastopexy is carried out under general anaesthetic, so you are fully asleep throughout. It is sometimes combined with other body procedures in the same session where it is safe to do so; whether that is appropriate for you is decided with Dr. Karatzias at your consultation.
